Synopsis
After missing his train, Diego, a naive Ecuadorian immigrant, finds himself stranded on the streets of Paris, lost in a city whose language and culture are entirely foreign to him. With no choice but to survive the night, Diego crosses paths with three French locals—Adrienne, Hugo, and Louis—whose guidance through the labyrinthine city will prove to be both a blessing and a curse.
Director's Statement
Why are you still here? This is the question I have constantly asked myself since I moved to the United States from Peru. I remember my first week living in New York City I lost myself in the subway system without knowing much English. I remember I felt useless, I remember I felt that if I couldn't even take a simple train on time, how was I supposed to achieve my dreams in the long run? Why was I still wasting my time trying to pursue this fairy tale in a foreign country? Why was I still there?
I felt like that for years and even to this day, it's a feeling that sometimes sneaks up on me, and I feel like a lot of other immigrants feel the same way, which is why I felt the urgency and passion to tell the story of a foreigner who is trying to figure it out in a country where everything is so different. A story of a boy trying to chase a dream and despite not knowing the culture or language there is still hope. There is always still hope. And I feel it's important to remind ourselves of that.
